Sansevieria Laurentii ‘Snake Plant’ is a drought-tolerant succulent species native to West Africa. Also known as Mother-In-Law’s Tongue, this herbaceous evergreen will grow upright with rosette-form leaves, which are rigid and variegated with contrasting colors (dark green, grey-green and yellow). The sharp, edgy species resides in the Asparagaceae family and is slow-growing, generally developing quicker when confined to a small pot or planter. Devil’s Tongue Plant is an easy-going, low maintenance succulent and will prefer moderate to bright sunlight under indirect exposure. Well-draining soil should be given a chance to dry out between watering cycles to avoid root rot, and pruning should not be required due to the species slow-growth rate. Snake Plant can be displayed by itself or alongside close relatives such as Black Coral Snake Plant, Sansevieria Cylindrica, Sansevieria Masoniana, Sansevieria Moonshine, Sansevieria Trifasciata Bantel, Sansevieria Trifasciata Prain or Sansevieria Trifasciata Zeylanica. Low light houseplants such as Croton Plant, Dieffenbachia, Fittonia Plant, Philodendron, Pothos Plant, Staghorn Fern or ZZ Plant are also great pairing ideas for the Snake Plant. Devil’s Tongue Plant purifies the air through carbon dioxide absorption and oxygen release, an efficient succulent for bedroom, den or lounge placement. Succulent enthusiasts will enjoy Laurentii’s vertical growth, wavy leaves with banded yellow edges, hardiness and low maintenance requirements.
